It is becoming increasingly apparent that the way ahead for many countries that have successfully established stock exchanges, is entry into what some regard as the minefield of derivatives trading. It is very true that for those without practical derivatives experience, this appears to be a mysterious and esoteric market; nevertheless, the ability to trade derivatives brings benefits which are now acknowledged by sophisticated investors and most emerging marketplaces are beginning to recognize a need to have their own efficient, well-regulated derivatives trading facilities.

ISC's directors have been involved in derivatives markets over many years. Andy Wilson, Managing Director, Europe, was a former executive of the London Traded Options Market (LTOM) with specific responsibility for market operations. Another of our directors, Barry Bird, was a non-executive director of LTOM and is currently a member of the Market Advisory Board of the London Securities and Derivatives Exchange (OMLX) having been a derivatives broker for nine years, and a director with two of the leading UK securities houses. He acted as an advisor to the Securities and Investments Board on derivative regulations for trading rules and investment funds and also acts as an expert witness in derivative matters.

We also have a number of specialist consultants within our pool, who have the practical derivatives knowledge and experience which we require of consultants taking part in such projects.

Not only has ISC conducted a variety of derivatives training courses in the UK, we also recently carried out a strategic analysis of the potential for trading new financial instruments in the Czech Republic and proposed means of regulating derivative instruments.
